Filcom Slub:

MATINSA has always been a reference in technological innovation in the textile field. In the year 2000, the development of the first FILCOM SLUB was a revolution in the field of systems based on spinning machines, bringing the capacity of producing compound yarns and of modifying every single parameter of the compound yarn online, without stopping the machine, and without change of the draft gear. The main keys from this product were its high performance, its huge range of possibilities and its innovating switch to digital technology. The current needs of the textile industry, which demands more complex yarns with unique characteristics, are solved with the creation of the new system FILCOM SLUB.

Automatic Control Electro‐Mechanical device for the production of NORMAL Yarns and SLUB Yarns in every kind of spinning machines. The Slub yarn is produced, by varying the speed of the feeding and middle rollers in very fast and intermittent way, keeping constant the production roller speed. In this way, are produced variations on the yarn-count. The slub length, slub thickness and the slubs repetitive sequence of the produced slubs are digitally designed and controlled. The slub yarns are no more a fashion yarn and they have standardized as part of every modern mill because of its high demand. The application field of slub yarns is very wide: from the home‐textiles (upholstery, curtains, sheets, etc.) to clothing items (tailoring, shirtmakers, tshirts, polo shirts, jeans, etc.) The device FILCOM SLUB is designed to achieve greater versatility and to widen the range of fashion designers, while the quality of yarns and counts is better controlled and improved during the production of compound yarns in an easy‐to‐use and versatile way.

The FILCOM SLUB device is capable of producing the following yarns:

• Normal Yarn Program: The yarn’s count is directly obtained without having to change any draft gear, time of preparation is not required.
• Regular Slub Yarn program: One slub (of one of 4 different basic kinds) is repeated in intervals of the base yarn that can have the same length or a programmable variation.
• Irregular Slub Yarn: Up to 15 different slubs can be placed in a yarn, all of them being of the same kind or even mixing them. In addition to varying the base yarn length, the apparition order of the slubs can be randomized (possibility to create 10 different kinds of yarns).

• Using the FILCOM SLUB device a great variety of different kinds of slub yarns can be designed and controlled, with any yarn count and slub length, even with especially short slubs, less than the mean fiber length.
• Easy and simple installation in every kind of spinning machine.
• Programming and modifying the designs in the compound yarn during the production (on‐line).
• Minimum maintenance costs.
• Every parameter of the slub yarn can be modified as desired, without any limitation.
• Prepared to produce yarns with a base count from Ne=1 to Ne=160.
• The compound yarn has similar tenacity coefficient to a normal yarn, reducing the number of breakages and increased quality yarn through two factors, that completely eliminate the thin places in the yarn:
  • Absolute control of the start and the end of effects through a programmable parameter that changes the acceleration and deceleration of the servomotor. The value of the start and the end of an effect can be adjusted independently for each effect in the yarn, thus the yarn will never have thin places.
  • Use of SIEMENS high performance servomotors, with a velocity control that eliminates the apparition of peak during the deceleration. This also helps to decrease the number of breakages rate.
• Full guarantee of reproducibility between the program’s parameters in the design and the obtained effect in the yarn.

• The compound yarns are free from the “moiré” effect, due to the random programming of the base yarn length. Changing the value of this parameter it is possible to cause the effect "moiré" or make it disappear with total guarantee of reproducibility.

Transmission elements depending on the brand and model of the spinning machine, composed by:

• Brushless servomotor SIEMENS with constant torque, low inertia and high dynamic efficiency.
• SINAMIC S120 variable‐frequency drive with COMPACT FLASH card.
• SIEMENS PLC model S7‐1200.
• SIEMENS encoder for measuring the speed of the production cylinder. The data transmission is made through a DRIVE CLiQ wire, assuring in that way the best possible quality in data measuring.
• WITTENSTEIN planetary gearheads.
